A delightful dessert combining tender, sweet apples with flaky puff pastry, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 6 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 package of puff pastry
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and flour in a large mixing bowl; toss until well-coated and set aside.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to fit your pie dish or baking tray, aiming for a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
  4. Transfer the rolled pastry to the pie dish, pressing it gently into the bottom and sides; trim any excess pastry.
  5. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pastry shell, distributing the apples evenly.
  6. Fold the edges of the pastry over the apples, creating a rustic look.
  7. Whisk the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the pastry.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
  9. Cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

Choose a mix of tart and sweet apple varieties for added depth of flavor. Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed before use for the best results.
